Where do I find HB unladen weight?

Hello

I think I've nearly found a lorry but the owner says that the unladen weight isn't on the plating cert it only has the max weight on each axle- is this right?

Any help much appreciated!

Hi

My lorry has the max laden weight for each axle on the plating certificate, if you want to know the unladen weight then you or the seller needs to take it to a weigh bridge and have it weighed.

I'd recommend having it weighed laden with the horses and stuff you are likely to travel with as well. It is easy to go over the max weight particularly if the unladen weight is quite heavy.

The only way to find out unladen weight is take it to a weigh bridge, those axel weights you have been shown are not always acurate. When you weigh them you take them empty of horses, but have a full tank of diesal a driver and passenger, we have weighed all our horseboxes and thats how we have always been told to do it, it only costs £5 at our local weighbridge and you get a printout ticket.
 
Hi If the seller has the last MOT test there should be a computer printed brake test sheet as well which shows the effectivness of brakes in % terms on here is the weight of the vehicle as it stood on the rolling road, this includes the weight of the driver as they are not allowed to get out, this should give you a fairly accurate weight at least whether a lorry is worth further investigation and a trip to view.
