where do i go from here?

so we had our first xc on sunday, was bit disaster to say least! there was 2 hour delay n then we got eliminated at first fence! not like him at all he was jumping bout , tried t sit on judges car which didnt go down well! he is 12 but when it comes t jumping or competing hes a baby. hes been out before n been ok this was worst. any ideas where to go from here? have given him this week off t chill. next one is in april! thanks x

Sounds like stagefright to me. Is he very new to the show/competition environment.You can do all the schooling you like,and they will go like a dream butshow them a competition and they go to pieces.Take him places and treat him gently ,he is afraid.Keep things small, but be firm,let him get confidence from you. Mike
