Hi again guys,

Another pain in the *** situation today!

Back in June I travelled to Hickstead to watch the Derby and Dressage. Whilst I was there I bought a lovely pair of HKM suede/fur leisure boots from a stall. I paid in cash and no long have the reciept to get the company's name. Due to it being a hot summer I have barely worn them, but already the left sole of the shoe has nearly completely come off and the stitching from the heel to the rear zip has come apart, while the right boot is fine. I have contacted HKM via FaceB and email explaining my situation. They replied on FaceB saying they need the name of the stall I bought them from, and then I need to return the boots to aforementioned stall. This is impossible as I have no idea who they were!

Where do I stand with this? I'm a bit peed off that I've spent all that money on something of such poor quality! They still have not replied to my email either.

Your contract is always with the shop you buy things from, not the supplier.

Have you looked for a list of stalls that were there to try and jog your memory?

I went to Hickstead in August and bought a pair of HKM boots. I love these boots and wear them riding and around the yard. The stitching on the back of one boot has started to come undone and I'm really disappointed. I was thinking of speaking to the manufacturers as I've heard of lots of people having problems with their boots.

I bought HKM country boots a couple of years ago, hopeless boots, fell apart within 4/5months, to the point of being totally unwearable. I avoid all HKM products now, just not good quality in my opinion.

Hi which hkm boots are they ? I work on a trade stand and was at hickstead so may be able to help, can you remember how much they cost ? and where roughly the stand was. I have a pair of the long leather hkm boots and find them really good for the money but with all stock you will get the odd faulty pair

Under the Sale of Goods Act and associated legislation, you can enforce your consumer rights against anyone in the supply chain, whether that is the retailer, supplier or manufacturer. This has only been around since 1979, and I am shocked if this really was HKM's response.

Sale of Goods legislation exists so as to protect the consumer who buys goods from someone acting in the course of business. These rights stand over and above their basic rights under the contract. I suggest you remind HKM of their statutory duties and return the item to them direct.
