Hi, through the years I`ve had a few different instructors and just so as I get confused they don`t all teach the same.
I have come unstuck recently and I thought I`d ask on here where you distribute your weight when you ride.
Some say to put your weight into your heel, and to relax your thighs to make your seat lighter but others say to squeeze with the thighs to support your weight and this makes the seat lighter.
How do you ride? Tensed calves? relaxed calves? tensed thighs? relaxed thighs?
Sorry just reading something and thought I`d ask on here to see what others do. Just interested.
Thanks. :)

I was told one third of your weight in your seat and one third in each foot. Your legs should be relaxed, with your weight dropped through the knee and into your heels, like it's flowing down a pipe on the back of your legs (that's how it was described to me):) If you are tense, you will get tired and you will be less able to react quickly if the horse does something silly.
