Where do you keep your tack

I have my own tack room at the back of my stable. New yard has a secure tack room with only enough room for saddle, bridle and grooming kit so everything else will have to be kept in my car or at home! I'm not looking forward to clearing out my tack room, I have so much stuff, no idea where it's all going to go!

I've got my own tackroom at the back of my stable. YO is always on site, and they have 2 huge dogs to scare off any intruders

Mine lives at home. My previous yard did not allow tack to be kept there - because of security concerns.

And I now stable at my friends - but continue to take it home.

We have a tack room at home (horses are at home) BUT after neighbour had hers stolen from her tack room my saddle stays in the house. Everything else still outside though as the house could not accomodate the accumulated stuff!

Mine is the same, YO lives at the yard and gate gets locked with dogs on guard at night.

At home, have never dared to keep tack in a tack room as afraid of it getting stolen. Ditto for car I'm afraid! Occasionally I leave it in overnight if I know I'm in a major rush the next morning.

we have horses at home but chose to keep the tack in the house rather than anywhere in the yard, it has its own (big) store room and is guarded by the mastiff when no one is home (only because he sleeps in the kitchen/hall - not specially!) I also intend having proper locks put on the door at some point.

I've got a tack room at my Dad's where I keep my spare stuff that I don't need very often, I keep my main saddles/bridles at the yard (tack room is secure). Some stuff is kept at home, just to make room in the tack room.

I've only got wintecs though - I think if I had an expensive saddle I'd take it home to be on the safe side.

I'm lucky because mine is at home and so are our horses.

I'm a bit worried though because I'm not sure that you would be insured for theft of your tack from your car?

i keep mine at home. i dont feel the tack room at our yard is that secure, and quiet often people forget to lock up. for safetys sake therfore, it lives at home!

I also keep mine at home. I told household insurers (NFU) there is tack in house so it is covered up to £5000. Much cheaper than adding it onto horse insurance.

At home in tack room inside house - just be careful only isuring on your home insurance - a friend did it and her saddle got nicked at a comp and the insurers wouldn't pay out - wasn't NFU Though.

We have ours covered on horse and home insurance

When i was on a livery yard, there was a shared tackroom which was locked at night but my saddle got scratched by some girl on my yard because i beat her jumping, how inmature so from then on i started taking it home. Now my horses are at home my tack lives in a cupboard in my house, it was a cupboard for hoover, coats etc but now dad has put up saddle and bridle racks in there and thats where all my tack lives =) so its all nice and safe.

I keep my at the yard.....YO's live on site, the whole yard is sensored (yes they do get out of bed if an animal crosses the yard at 2am in the morning) and he has a shot gun hehe. No one will be getting past him.

I keep my tack at the yard in the tack room. The YO checks it is locked every night and there are some big (loud!!) dogs on site that aren't exactly the cuddly type and go nuts if anyone goes near the house so it is pretty secure.

I've just bought my first ever brand new saddle (have only ever had second/third/fourth hand saddles before) so that lives in the house-to my other halfs disgust! It has been relegated to the garage recently but I'm sure it will find it's way back! Other tack is in the tack room at the yard.

Saddles & bridles - inside the house
rugs in use, travelling stuff - in my store at the yard
spare numnahs, girths, bits, everything else not used on a regular basis - at home

All mine lives in my car at the moment!
Ive got two sets of tack and it all in the boot of my car.

Same, I have 2 saddles, 3 bridles (sometimes up to 5 bridles), breastplate and martingale in my boot.

Tack I don't use very often is in the tackroom at home, which is under the stairs.

Maiden's stuff always lived in the tack room. Not ideal really but I have a 3-door Punto and it's impossible to get tack in and out of it! My saddles are now behind the sofa in the living room, gathering dust - safe but unhappy!

Berlin's stuff is in a locked tack room in a locked cupboard. Almost as unsafe as Maiden's tack was, and it's more expensive!
Kit's stuff used to be kept at the stables but since she has had the Wow saddle, it all goes home. When I am riding her I have to go to her owner's house the night before to pick it up, squeeze it into my Punto without scratching it, keep it in my house overnight, take it to work in my car, then I ride and it all then comes to my house again to be cleaned before getting taken back. Hassle but it's about the safest set of tack!

Bridles are kept in our barn, everything else at home. I wouldn't dare leave it in the car.

I keep all of my tack, about 15 saddles, 20-odd bridles and all of my blankets in one of my barns...unlocked. Nothing happens where I live - no-one locks their doors, let alone their barns here.
