Where do you look for a horse on loan???

Hey guys,

I have been trawling the net for a horse for loan and really can't find any good websites. Am I looking in the wrong places? We have loaned before but found the horse by word of mouth and that was 10 years ago! We are looking for something simple. An asy horse for my mother. She used to ride but hasn't in a few years and really just wants something to plodge up and down the roads with. It has to be able to carry about 14st so that my brother can have a plodge too, but other than that we aren't fussed!!! Just a safe dependable horse. I mean, if we happen to stumble upon something talented then my brother or I could do some little bits on it, but that is very much an optional extra!!! Where are the old hairy numbers?!?! Hehe, any suggestions to how we will find this horse is very much appreciated!

You could try putting up adverts in your local tack shops, that way you are likely to find something local.
People are often very reluctant to loan horses out to people they don't know (and with good reason sometimes, if you look at the number of bad experiences people have had)
At least if the owner is local they can keep an eye on their horse, which would make someone happier to loan out.
