Where do you store your BP?

This will be my first winter wearing my BP (Kan), and I was wondering where everyone stores theirs? Do you keep it at the barn/yard or do you bring it from home? During the summer I have kept mine in my trunk at the barn but have thought it might be best to bring it home once the nights start getting colder, so I don't have to put on a icy BP in the morning.

Also, do you find it difficult with layering and heavier jackets during the winter...like feeling like a marshmallow? :roll eyes:

Daughter's is kept in the hall by the front door, it tucks behind the little stack of too small (for her) riding hats and assorted cycle hemlets for when little friends come over to use the facilities, the stack neatly stops it falling over when the dog bounds to the door wagging his tail . Must tidy that lot up one day, but it does serve a purpose!
 
I'd have to check tbh, probably in the loft with xc silks. Or in large storage box in the shed with random horse stuff. Or maybe at the farm in the chest with ancient rugs & destroyed haynets. Who knows lol?
 
Please don't leave hats and body protectors in your car, or otherwise expose them to extremes of temperature; it is really bad for them! Not much point in forking out for expensive safety gear and then not looking after it IMO. :)
 
I used to keep mine in the cupboard under the stairs!

If I had one now (it's on my to-do list....) I'd keep it in my storage box at the yard, or hung up like another livery has hers.
 
Mine usually lives in the boot of my car, but be careful when it gets cold as one year the foam in mine froze, i then tried bending it so I could wear it and the foam split in 2 from where it had been so cold and I had to but a new one so now I bring it home when it gets colder. Plus I hate it when it gets cold and wont bend!
 
Agree with Rhino - extremes of temperature degrade the materials in hats and body protectors.
My BP is hung on a hanger in the house after use (I wear it every time I ride). Helps make it more comfy to put on again as it cools down in my body shape, rather than in a crumpled heap!
 
Take it home!! Kan are far too nice to leave at the yard unless locked away!

I had my first RaceSafe back protector pilfered from an old yard and now take the second one home or keep it in the car. Might not be worth much to many people but to me it is, it might save my back one day and knowing my luck it would be the day somebody decided to 'borrow' it!

I'd be interested to know how you get on with the Kan, I've looked at these and wondered if they are as flexible as a Racesafe. I have a motorcycle back protector made from the same material and it moulds to my back after a while under my leathers, very comfy and warm when it's chilly out.

I currently keep it in my trunk, which indeed has a lock on it. I find it quite comfortable! It's my first BP, so I can't compare it to any other brands out there but I haven't had any problems with it so far (have had it since late winter). I can wear it comfortably even with a hoodie underneath and it moves with you, molds etc. Customer service was also fantastic getting the fit right.
