This may be a silly question but where does the foal sit position wise throughout the mares pregnancy? Obviously at a later date its obvious and you can see, but when they are 4/5/6 months where would you expect to find them?

My mare is about half way, and she had a very prominent side at the weekend (she looks particulary big this time round) and just wondered if that is where you would expect to see them at that point?

Don't be fooled - the foals move sides....one day your mare will bulge on one side...the next it will have wriggled over.

Yeah they move all over the place, but wasnt exactly sure where it would be at 6 months

I couldnt believe how visible it was, she hardly looked pregnant last time round!!

It was a lefty this weekend!!

we are due on april 5th and when the vet came this month to do herpes vacc. she said it was as big as a jack russell at the moment. my mare is huge it must be a jack russell x with a great dane

I am so dim, I was looking at one of the horses the other day and thinking "You'll have to go on a diet my girl" when I suddenly remembered that fatso is 6 months pregnant and showing it! The other mare (5 months) is, as she was last year, a belly on legs.

Useful illustration Thankyou.
