I've been on the hunt for a classy cob-cross in the North for the last four months and there are none for sale. None. Well, there was one I went to see that would have scored a 9/10 had it not also been lame...

Does anyone know where they're hiding please? I've got a decent budget but am limited to travelling a couple of hours away from West Yorkshire as I can only drag my YM/designated sanity checker away from the yard for so long.

Just in case you have one on your yard, I'm after a 15h-15.2 gelding 7-10 years that's bombproof, good to do in all ways and nice enough quality to compete side saddle. Yes, it's a long wish list, but I'm looking for a Forever Horse :)

And I've been through the ads on H&H and HorseQuest with the proverbial toothcomb and found nothing suitable, sigh.

*wastes another nice weekend not hacking :(*

I am looking for a similar thing in Norfolk, though we would go up to maxi cob size, we have been moaning that everything we like is up North!

Try putting a few wanted ads up on the main websites, I usually get plenty of response that way from people with horses that aren't even on the market yet.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone! I've bookmarked Stubley Hollow and am thinking about putting a Wanted ad on HorseQuest or similar.

My shopping list is actually even worse than above, e.g. due to previous surgery I can't cope with a strong horse that pulls and I've decided that life is too short to wash poo stains off a grey horse :) Fussy? Moi?

My advice?

Don't limit yourself to 2 web-sites. Look on every web-site you can find, including the free ones. Be prepared to look at horses 'in the rough'. It's the end of winter, if people have decided that they need to sell, rather than struggle any longer financially (and many people are), horses are likely to be on the free sites, unclipped, living out.
