im back to searching for a quiet cob type to move in with us & get spoil rotten & go on the occational hack or local show & i cant find a thing!
i dont jump or want to gallop about & age isnt important.
i have ads on all the free sites (preloved/freeeads/friday ads ect...) & have even offered my little mare in exchange but nothing, not even a stuffed one.

anyone know of anything wanting an easier life?

I think perhaps the problem is people have realised these types are like goldust and have prices to match! Genuine safe sensible plods are hard to come by.

ok well size is anything from 13h upwards, breeding unimportant, age not too fussed, happy with blemishes ect.

budget, HMM well if my mare sells there is £800 or abouts for spends or exchange for her (she is a cute little thing but needs a little work now). im happy for an older one looking for a quieter semi retirement (hack once/twice a week if that & a couple of shows a year)

Welllll, I have to confess that I've got one of the "hack/plod's" here, and no I'm afraid he isn't for sale!!! It was hard enough finding him and I wouldn't ever sell my little (or rather should I say Big!!) man, bless him.

How did I find him? Well I saw an advert from a local trekking centre and had him on winter loan, and the rest is history as they say. The only problem with him was that he had never hacked solo and we had a few tantrums hacking out until we got sorted!!

I know what its like trying to find a decent horse like this. You'll find plenty of skitty skatty horses that'll put you into the middle of next week, but there seems to be a dreadful lack of what everyone wants, i.e. 14-15hh, cobby/sensible/versatile type with a sensible attitude, good to shoe & do and basically bombproof!!!

Hope you get suited soon: remember tho' that the wrong choice can be catastrophic, and its so easy to buy in haste if you're desperate - the right horse is like a good marriage really.

Happy hunting!

I'll keep looking, I'm bored lol :)

see you guys are brill finding them.

in the ideal world Tinks would sell to a home that can forfill her potential as she just loves to work & is bored stiff here then i would have cash to buy a beastie i can ride, the cash i had saved for her replacement went onto the huge amounts of work the car needed last month (Grrr!!!) so now she has to sell to free up the capital needed again.

but if someone wanted to swap for her i would be happy as long as she gets a loving home wheree she can do something as she is not a companion, she is easily bored & small enough to get into trouble.)

bettyboo222 it seems to be archived so i unsure if still avalible.

binky01 i like the first 2 & think the phone will be in use in a bit :)

i dont do loaning anymore after the horse i was loaning was sold out from under me breaking 6month contract & putting me out of pocket for quite a bit (LWTB & they took all that kit i had brought too)

15 year old ex chaser TB hack looking for a good retirement home, horse is sound and can still be ridden just not jumping as current owner believes he is retired from that now, call 01300 345445, ad in racingpost today.

Loaning may well be a fab idea for an older or semi retired one though....as they are more just well loved pets which the owner have no intention on selling nor would get a lot of £££ for them anyway. So might be worth keeping it an option and get a better suited horse from it and no un betold issues from a 'cheap' one bought.

Only my way of looking at it :)

heh, I've been riding a complete plod all this week! Not a cob (actually betting he's got quite a bit of TB in him) but SO steady you wouldn't believe it O.o Unfortunately, he's sold :o But yesterday we hacked past a hedge cutter - turned on - and he didn't even twitch. But he's so pretty he'd easy go showing/dressage as he could move too...
So there must be SOME out there! :D
