Since my last post about thinking about giving up on horses I have made the decision to downsize so I can get back to enjoying riding and horses again. It has been a tough decision with a lot of to'ing and fro'ing about the whole thing, but in my heart of hearts, I know it is the way forward.

I know youngsters are not selling so well, but this time of year is going to be better than in 6 months time - at least there is the summer. So, where best to advertise Harry?

He currently stands at 12.3, is a chunky gpsy cob with plenty of feather and is a year old. He is piebald with fairly equal markings, and has a wall eye on his left side. He is a cheeky boy, but good to do; he leads, ties up, stands, picks his feet up, stands for the farrier, baths, etc. He has also been going in the school for "bombproofing" to scary objects.

I haven't got any recent pics of him - that will be a job for one of the week nights or the weekend! But where is the best place to advertise him, and roughly how much for? Home is definitely the most important aspect for us.

Thanks

Coloured contacts are very good and used by a lot of people looking for coloureds.

Price - they can range at that age from £500 to £10,000 - all depends on breeding, how much hair, how they are put together and what they have done, ie have they been shown.

I paid £1,800 for Chancer as a yearling - but he is a nice example of his breed, well bred, good hair and from a reputable breeder. He was well handled, in good condition with a very nice steady nature. I bought him back in 2005.

Why not take a look on coloured contacts and see how he compares to others on there and get an idea of his value?

Try Dragon Driving (Website) my Mum has used it to sell her hairy ones and always had a good success rate.
