I have a mystery.
Merryn has been very itchy lately which I put down to him moulting. I checked him over when he first started itching and could find no other reason. But on Friday I got him in to give him another check over as his itching was getting worse and this time I found he was infested with Lice
But I just don't understand how this happened
He lives in a field on his own 24/7 unrugged, He has his own grooming kit, tack, headcoller ect that is never used by anyone else.
No new horses have come onto the yard. Infact due to the weather and other things neither of my boys have been off the yard since xmas not even hacking.
He can groom the horse in the next field but that horse hasn't been off the yard since July.
Does anyone have any ideas how this could have happened. I've treated him now and checked the other horses and all others are lice free
I just always thought lice were transfered by direct contact. Obviously I would like to stop this from happening again so if anyone has any ideas how they got here I would be very grateful if you could share.
Thanks everyone and I hope I havn't made you all feel itchy.
thanks for reading. Choc cake for everyone and extra helpings if you have any ideas.
