Sorry, rubbish title; what I am after is a muzzle I can ride my horses in. I exercise them regularly in dense woods and it is now way beyond a joke; they both grab tree branches the whole time and will stop and munch, totally ignoring any desperate attempts to stop them (by experienced riders). The problem is, the tracks are narrow so the branches are right by the horses' heads making it impossible to stop them grabbing. My lad also rears up to grab leaves- I try to stop him with a whip positioned over his head but he is very determined. Not only is it annoying and looks stupid/unprofessional (just a bit!) but there are poisonous trees around too (rhododendron, bracken, yew) Years ago, I found a full-nose net muzzle in Jolleys which does the trick, but I need another one and can't find one! Alternatively would the leather muzzle on the Barnstormers website be rideable in do you think?

Buy a fishing net, take off the net, take out the wire, thread a shoelace thru and put it over the muzzle and tie to the noseband. Costs next to nothing and works a treat.

This may sound horribly mean, but I would love to see you riding in the woods with your horses just grabbing all the leaves etc.. Even rearing to get the ones high up.. with the rider desperately trying to stop them only being completely ignored!!! lol...

Good luck in your attempt of a non open buffet style hack.. XX

Heidirusso trust me, it has caused a lot of amusement; my lad once pulled down a whole 20 foot tree branch, I don't know who was more surprised, him or me, luckily didnt land on us... plus there was a smart lady on a coloured horse watching with appalled amusement...
Thanks for the link galaxy23 that is what I had in mind!
