As the title says - I am looking for a sane cob or other schoolmaster type for my husband. He isn't very tall and weighs about 10 stone so anything from 15hh would be suitable. He hasn't been riding long but he is getting on well and I think it is time to get him his own horse because my horse is not a novice ride. I am looking in the usual places but, so far, haven't come up with the right horse. If anyone has a horse which might fit the bill (or knows of one) please PM me. I am based in Yorkshire at the moment but am willing to travel a reasonable distance.

Sane cobby schoolmaster types are worth their weight in gold, so I hope you have a fair budget! As the previous poster said - keep looking on all the websites, local free ads etc. and put the word out with everyone you know, as word of mouth quite often pays dividends. Failing all that, there are a couple of dealers that specialise in quiet horses - there are also some that should be avoided at all costs! Good luck.

Thank you Jay2. I know I will have to pay a fair bit for such a horse but that's ok - OH just got his annual bonus and what better to spend it on?!

Patches, oh yes, please, if only you could that would be just perfect!!

I have asked Admin to delete this post by the way. I didn't mean to upset anyone by posting - just didn't think straight when I wrote it!!

I didn't see anything wrong with your post myself. The no-advertising bit can go a bit OTT at times.

I bought Patches because her previous owner mentioned selling her. Some may say that was advertising.

When I bought Patches I didn't think she was overly cheap. I paid £2750 for a naked horse....ie no tack or rugs etc. However, fast forward two years and I'm damn sure I'd not have been able to buy a horse of her suitability and saneness for that figure.

They are like gold dust and often when people buy a horse, such as Patches, they're not in any rush to part with them.

Good luck in your search

Tried looking in the quiethorses.com website or horsedeals magazine.
