Is it just me; I find it really hard to find a decent weather forecast.

The BBC and/or Met Office ones are pure drivel and totally inaccurate: for example the official Met Office web forecast for my area gives the wind speed currently at 20mph!!! um, they wanna stand out here in my yard coz I was nearly blown off my feet when I went down to my yard to check the horses 10 mins ago!

FFS how can they say that and at the same time give a "wind warning"???

Its pathetic! I live not 8 miles from the flippin' Met Office............ and yet can't find a decent forecast :(

So folks...... where do you all go???

Anyone got any fave websites/iPhone apps?

The weatherpro app is good. Other half has private pilot's licence and uses that before checking with the met man. It gives wind speed gusts as well as general wind speed. Also shows radar so you can see the path of the storm!

Is that a subscription only service please ?

Windguru.cz or XC Weather seem to be the best (according to windsurfing hubby and yep, he's currently out windsurfing!)

I have just downloaded it onto my ipad following this recommendation, it cost £2.49. It looks very promising, and has recognised my itsy bitsy little village too for home based weather reports!

Thanks.

Windy Wilson on Facebook, not sure if its scotland based though, our local tv weatherman cant even get it right on the 'weather earlier on today' Lol!

Windy Wilson is pretty accurate (and entertaining). I use http://www.yr.no for more detailed forecasts and find it more accurate and detailed than the Met Office, although that could because, in Scotland I'm nearer their home base in Norway than I am to the Met Office HQ in Devon :p

I use UK Weather Forecast, they have a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ukweatherforecast?fref=ts and a website http://www.ukweatherforecast.co.uk/ , the Facebook and website pages are updated often and if the weather is bad one of the forecasters will stay up all night giving news and reports. They are very scientific and will accurately forecast storms like we are having now up to two weeks in advance. Even their longer range seasonal forecasts are uncannily accurate.

I use Metcheck.com its reliable and usually very accurate.
I also look at Meteox.co.uk which shows the satellite images of cloud movements for the previous three hours so you can workout where the rain is coming fom and how long its going to last.

Ceefax is quick and easy, but doesn't give you the wind. Met Office at least gives you actual temperature and 'feels like' temperature, and you can customise it be very local to you. Today it said it would feel like freezing - and it does.

Yes, I am in wet/sun/hail/thunder/lightening/flooded Devon as well! (Had all these this morning)

Do what I do look out of bedroom window 6am, when I step out of back door to feed birds, see which way the wind is blowing and when I feed the horses and turn them out, watch how they act. Like today they arsed about in the Thunderstorm we had this morning and after the downpour this afternoon begging to come in. Simples.:D
