Where to find a horse to buy?

Don't know the area but look up charities & sanctuaries, most rehome within a 2hr journey so gives you a reasonable area.

Just seen an older post of yours, so now know the criteria but do you want something nice to hack or to jump/dressage etc?

Have you tried Mark Bosanko, Nr Totnes. Has quality younger horses in, probably more around the £4k/£5k mark but he might be worth a call.

How about Tregurtha Stud in Cornwall or Properhorses?

Ive a friend with a 16hh coloured gelding, TBx hes 3yrs old & just been broken in, they want £1500 for him, but they are in west Wales, so possibly to far?

Budget is 3k so Mark is out of the question! Have looked on PH website and nothing takes my fancy.

Shall look up Tregurtha.

try 'Richmond Sports Horses' its owned by Sarah Knightley and she has horses in for around the 5k mark, i couldnt recommend her more, good luck

Are mares okay as there are a couple on horsequest.
REF 52632 £2995 but 15.3 - too small?
REF 51955 looks nice, tad over budget at £3750 but says ono and includes tacks/rugs

or grey gelding REF 51030 £2950

I think you might struggle getting a nice horse off a dealer for that budget and have to stick with searching the private market. You could of course try Quarrystone if you're very very brave.

There's a 16.1hh in the WMN today, 12yrs. Evented, says excellent temp and to do - for £2500 ono
