Where to find a neckstrap?

I can't seem to find a neckstrap to buy. My new mare is quite sharp and I would prefer to buy a proper neckstrap instead of using a stirrup leather. I don't need/want a martingale. I am sure I once saw a reflective neck strap which would be even better since I only need it when we are hacking.

Has anyone seen anything like this?

why not use a breastplate without the martingale attachment instead? i find it much easier to grab hold of in the event of anything happening. i found the neckstrap moved up and down the neck when they were jumping about because it wasnt attached to anything. hope this gives you another avenue to look down.

Use an old stirrup leather, or the saddler on here - mrhsaddler - makes them.
 
Another vote for the balancing strap that attaches to the D rings at the front of the saddle. I got mine from Libbys and even of you never need it, it's a reassurance.

I have a balancing strap already and use it on occasion for flatwork but I have never found it very good for clinging on out hacking. The shires one looks very small which is a real shame as its exactly what I want. Mare is a 16.3hh hanoverian so she has quite a big neck and I think it would sit tightly too far up her neck to reach, as its already on the last holes in the pic, on what looks too be quite a small horse.

That's a good idea to get an old martingale and just use the neck strap part - I could look on e-bay for a second hand one. Breastplate is avery good idea too. I will certainly put on the flurescent bands onto it. She is black and I want her to be protected and visable if I ever fall off. The site Piebaldsparkle links to has some great high vis stuff. I have some high vis brushing boots but the neck strap bands would be good too.

why do you want a neck strap but dont require a martingale ?
having been on a bronco ( ah bless !!) it didnt help infact all it did was pull my shoulder until i loosed it and fell off.
doesnt really help as it encourages you to lean foreward which makes you a bit insecure in the saddle.
 
I don't require a martingale as the horse doesn't throw her head in the air. Even when hacking and on a very light contact she remains in self carriage. She's working advanced medium level dressage and has quite a high set on neck but she doesn't throw her head up or about as such. I've only had her just over a week so no bronco tendancies so far but I don't want to speak too soon

. She is sharp but quite brave and has been very good hacking so far. For me personally I more see the neckstrap as something to grab onto when you are taken by surprise by a big shy sideways or gallop forward and are you being pitched backwards - so it needs to be quite loose and sit near the front of the saddle and not high up on the neck. I've never ridden actually holding onto it as I agree it would really make you pitch forward and be insecure. To be really honest I think it is a psycological aid more than anything else as when I was riding babies it was always drummed into my head to use a neckstrap. I also really like the thought of having some high vis further up and not just on her legs as she is very black. I know it sounds lazy

but I'd rather have something like reflective boots, reflective neck strap etc to put on that stays permanently like that than the little strips you put onto bridles.
 
Echo stirrup leather, I did own a balancing strap but found it of little use as I do not have my hands naturally over the pommel of the saddle. There is no such thing as such as a proper neck strap aside from one on a martingale. And those are not really strong enough to take the weight in an emergency hence I would reccomend a stirrup leather.
