Hello,

I am moving my coblet into a double bridle, we are currently working at Medium and I feel it would a good step forwards for us but I would like some help working out which bit he wants. :)

He currently works in either a Myler L2 Hanging cheek or a Sprenger KK Ultra depending on how he is going at the time. Occasionally he pops his tongue over if he is in a grumpy mood :p

I'm ideally after a sprenger weymouth to use with the KK, but really need some help deciding which are worth a trial.

Before you advise me to talk about it with my trainer, I'm pretty much self-taught and have lessons about every 3 months so am kind of on my own :o

Many thanks!

Having just looked at the price of the sprenger weymouths:eek: I would suggest that you start with a simple weymouth set, with a very low port, and either a fixed or sliding cheek. If you can borrow one to try from a friend that would be even better. You could still use your sprenger with the weymouth.

Once you have started to use it then you will get an idea of where to go, a slight variation can make the world of difference and initially you will not really know how much difference the bit is making just because it is new to him.

That may not be much help but I have found most horses will really lift up when first putting them in a double, you think all is wonderful then after a while feel that something still needs tweaking, it can get very expensive, far more than the cost of a few training sessions.
