Im at a point where in the next few months I'll be looking for a horse to loan. I've loaned in the past but its always been from friends or friends of friends. I've got at least one person who would be a reference but no idea where to start looking (none of my horsey friends are local to where I live now and/or have anything to post to me ;) ). I've googled but not many that I've managed to find are full loan and even then they can't be moved. I have a youngster so need loan ponio to be on the same lovely yard.

i offered to post the big one to you but you didn't want her:(;) i could post you the ginger one instead but he can be a bit of a knobber and i wouldn't want him to break you:o
do you have a local free-ad type thing up there ?they're usually good for loan ads, or a local tack shop.:)

Ibble- if she'll cope with being stabled overnight and what I want to do then post away....ginger would be welcome I just wont let oh see me ride ;). I've not seen any freead type things and nothing up on the boards in the local horsey shops.
Patterdale-im in north derbyshire/south yorks.

she doesn't like stables:( as i found out when she had to be i with her abcess, weaved so bad she smacked her head on the door frame:(
is there a derbyshire horse group on FB?

Ginger it is then. Poor girly :( they're lovely half wall barn stables but still probably not much fun. Hadn't thought of looking on FB, I'm on one for South Yorks so I'll see about Derbsyhire.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions....I'm also looking at ex racehorse charities but I'm not sure I'm a good enough rider atm (very rusty) so not sure they would let me have one. I might get a miracle and the owners of the horse I'm riding might let me take her with me....I can dream lol.

I'm in a similar position. I've been given the nod (today!) to start looking for another dobbin while I bring Millie on and I wouldn't mind loaning. Won't be able to do it for a couple of months but doesn't hurt looking around now. So many people are either not offering full loan or offering full but with conditions of the horse not moving - totally understandable given the amount being stolen while on loan. Must be a really worrying prospect for an owner.

Pookie - I totally get it too, and to be honest recently when friends have been thinking about loaning I've suggested not moving lol. I have always had good experiences and I know im a good loanee so I suppose I just need to prove that to someone.

Local horsey Facebook groups are always a good place to look too. We've got a couple for round our way do if there is any where you are they'd be worth a try!

you are one of the few people who i would happily loan to Netty, i know that my horses would be safe and well looked after, if you need that in writing i would happily put my name to it.x
why couldn't you have moved closer instead of farther away!!!!!

You could have had Ellie hun but she may still be a but much for you just now, I would be happy to give you a ref also as you would offer a brill home x
