Hi, I'm looking to buy an unbroken 4yr old or older cob, around 14-15hh to back and produce as a summer project. Could anyone suggest some inexpensive places to look?
Auctions, if you are happy to make, & live, with a quick decision. But, usually anything over 2 is backed, after a fashion. Anything 4 & unbacked is less common & probably not 'ridden' in the ring for a reason. I use commas because backed & ridden at cheap auctions is not exactly the same as backed & ridden in the normal way. And word of mouth locally.
I found my project cob on horsemart. She went on her first hack today I was a very pleased mum as she's only been sat on 3 times and was confident enough to have a little trot in front of my nanny horse x
I bought my lad from the sales. He was 5 and only halter broken, straight from the travellers. This is obviously v rare and the reason he was unbroken was they'd petrified him! He was in the isolation box, and everyone said wed bought a "wrong un".
a year down the line he is the most amazing boy, he is extremely sensitive soul but with careful handling, we have Mr jack.
