I need a hacking jacket to wear at 3-4 shows this year showing our youngster in potential WHP youngstock classes. As it will only get a few outings I really don't want to pay £200. Any suggestions where to get a jacket without paying the earth? Can't see anything on ebay and first show is a week on Saturday.

I have the Shires Huntingdon for around £80 and it looks just like a Pretty Ponies jacket. Lovely jacket, and a far better price.

Charity shops! You wouldn't believe the amount of hacking jackets that end up there, I've even seen well branded 100% wool jobbies, shame I've not found one in my size though. Same goes for kids jackets, given the amount they grow you can always find a cheap second hand one.

Other than that, Shires are a good budget brand. There's one with a self-coloured velvet collar that I've seen for under £60.

I would agree with Shires, mine was about £65 and I love it. It's a really flattering fit.
