HHO's your expert advice please?

A friend is looking for another pony to take their boy off the lead rein and give some confidence - he loves jumping but the pony they have is not reliable when off the rein and rushes jumps, so will be used for the younger sisters, while he moves on to the new pony, but it needs to do both on and off lead rein.

The thing is, where do you find a pony like this, where is best to look and is a budget of upto a max of £2000 realistic??? (ive not bought a pony for 20+ years!!!)

Keep looking in the classifieds - H&H, Horsemart, etc. £2000 is probably not that much, but you may find something. That sort of pony is worth its weight in gold, and parents pay a lot ffor them... However it is a buyer's market, so you may do ok..x

Many of the most reliable ponies are passed from home to home via pony club. It would be a good idea to make contact with your local pony clubs -find their websites and look at the for sale and for loan ads on there.

Thanks, they've trawled the websites, tack shop boards and people we know, so any recommendations are gratefully received. They are prepared to travel for the right pony but have missed a couple due to only having time to view at the weekend.

Theres an amazing pony like this for sale that I know of but price is £4K but perfectly behaved what ever you do and does very well at dressage. Think a £2K budget is a little optimistic, but do able if you are prepared to look at alot of ponies that people claim are perfect and are not!
