Where to look for loan pony

Due to moving on to my own land, I am now unable to take more than one out of the field at once otherwise the one left goes nuts! I am urgently looking for a small pony (12.2hh and under but not shetland sized...) to keep my other horses company, mare or gelding, perhaps gelding better to go with 3 other geldings so no falling out... but have run out of ideas of where to look.

My success so far has been non existant in finding anything suitable, I have checked out all local saddlerys etc, been scouring the internet for the last 2 weeks to no avail and now getting desperate as need to take 2 x country schooling at the same time before Team Chasing starts :-( and then once the season starts will be taking 2 out every weekend so really need to sort something soon.

Would also prefer something that can be ridden so my 15 month old daughter can sit on and have walk around field and grow up with but not absolute necessity.

We only want on loan as we are renting the land so should something change I need to be able to give pony back as would not be able to keep 4 horses on a livery yard :-)

Any ideas? fast running out of them myself!

Already tried :-( most are good PC ponies that ought to be doing PC not sat in the field being companion and light walk about field pony :-(

where abouts are you? i have a pony on my land and the owners are considering loaning him out, he's 12.2 exmoor gelding, but theyve had bad experiences with loaning before and would prefere him to be not too far away so they can check up regularly :)
but if you want him ridden, he does tend to get excited but is a perfect lead pony :)
 
Try pony club websites, it may be an idea spreading it via word of mouth and wanted adverts.
The thing is, inless your going to ride it, its best to take an older pony you could retire, otherwise it is a bit of a waste taking a fit and healthy pony.
It may be an idea looking at horse sanctuarys, like Bluecross, they may have a small pony that needs a good, friendly home, which may be just suitable for field companionship?
 
it would be nice to find something that can be ridden a little bit as I would like to get my daughter riding (i know she is v young at minute) but she always wants to sit up on our 16.2 with daddy! so would like to find something she can start on lean rein on, but will defo have a look at rescue centres
 
Hi, i have a pony i am looking to loan out, hes 12 hands new forest, very slim build, got him as a companion for my big horse...but i now have three biggies so they are ok on there own now.
i dont want to sell him as he is a dear little chap.
hes not be ridden as such but has been lunged with tack and had weight on his back.
 
We got our little companion from the ILPH/ World horse welfare, friends had her previously, but their website normally has details of those available to loan. Like other have suggested, might be worth looking? She's nothing special but does the job as a companion and that's all we need!
