I swear I just posted this!!

Where do I start in my hunt for my new family member?

Once I have actual cash in hand I'll contact the breed society as the don't list breeders on their website and there are only two litters within reasonable travelling distance of home.

I basically want to start a general search into good/bad breeders etc but just googling (I'm probably looking with the wrong words) doesn't seem to get me anywhere and I feel a bit overwhelmed as there are sooooo many sites that come up.

How do you spot a genuine breeder from a dodgy one? Do genuine hobby breeders put adds on free ad type sites?

Breed societies are your best bet, I know they are a numerically small breed but the breed society should be able to help you out. I personally would not use free ads and I suppose I would be considered a hobby breeder nowadays. It might be worth finding out if there are any shows not too far away with corgi classes, you could go along and see if there are any particular types that take your fancy, and note their lines, chat to breeders etc. Don't take the KC Accredited Breeder status as a guarantee they are genuine breeders, I have heard that some less than perfect breeders are managing to become ABs. If a breeder has had a litter before ask if they have recommendations from previous purchasers, I have a big folder with letters from people who have bought pups from me, and photos I have been sent, I was always happy to show it to prospective owners.
