Where to repair elastic on half chaps?

Hi,

I have some half chaps that need the elastic (that goes under your foot) repairing. The rest of the chaps are still in excellent condition, and they cost well over £100, so I am loathe to get rid of them!

Can anyone please recommend someone who would be willing to replace the elastic? Ideally in Surrey / West Sussex (I'm in Cranleigh, near Guildford / Horsham / Dorking). Or perhaps to send them to to be repaired? They are Ariats.

Bring them round if you get stuck, officially I stopped doing repairs in April as I am mainly manufacturing now but can do them for you if you come here or post them.PM me for my address, Oz

I had the elastic on mine replaced our local saddler. Cost about £5 I think. I'm in Bedfordshire so too far for your I'm afraid.

Yes, it's the 'local saddler' thing I'm trying to find really (although happy to post if I need to - thanks a million Oz!). But the last two I asked just made a funny face at me - I guess it wasn't worth the amount of effort for the amount they felt they could charge, which I DO understand! But I'm sure there will be some lovely local saddler round here who will oblige...?!

My 'saddler' is a Balance International saddle fitter, so it's not really something I feel I can ask them to do (or that they would be 'able' to do in fact, as she is a 'fitter', and not a 'saddler', so to speak).

Do you know anybody who does rug repairs? I had a tear in my 1/2 chaps & our local rug fixer mended them for me - he does all the rugs on the yard so as we give him a lot of buisiness he did them for nothing for me.
Might be worth a try.

That's easy! Boothole in Dorking. Will replace elastic, zips, main elastic on gaiters....they are about 50 yards up from Waitrose on the right hand side in the one way system.
