I have a saddle that is at least 25 years old, it could be much older I just know that the saddlery that made it closed down 25 years ago! It's still in good condition to look at but I haven't had it checked.

I have been advised by Saddles Direct that it could be worth £100+ but who would buy it??

If it is in good condition and 'sound, then you'd be surprised with how much you could get for it on eBay!

I stopped using eBay a while ago (used to have a shop and spent more than I made on eBay). I'd also have to put a reserve on and would lose money if it didn't sell.

I can't afford to have it checked and would rather sell it to someone who could have a look at it first and get it checked themselves.

What make etc is it? If it's a saddle that's still desirable then it will fetch more than the "low end" saddles in the £300 and down range. At 25 years old it isn't even that old for a good make, certainly not worth any more just because of its age.

I *think* it's Thoroughbred Saddlery, it also has some other stamps on it that seem to be numbers - I haven't got it with me right now but it's something like 1 8 8 9 (random numbers pulled from my memory!) I've struggled to find any info on the saddlery though.

Ooohh - this saddle is very (if not exactly) similar

Hope I could make that for mine!

ETA have just done a bit of searching of American sites on Google and have got a bit excited - apparently these saddles were quite expensive when new and are quite sort after in the US...let's hope someone in the UK wants one!

Apologies for my multiple posts!

I have just managed to find the email I sent to Saddles Direct from a different computer so have downloaded the image, it's not a great one, will post below. Have also got the stamp info, it has the letter 'K' and then underneath are 4 individual number stamps '1' '9' '2' '3'. It is a 17" seat.

Sorry pic is really pants...I did get better ones but they are on another machine!
