After a bit of advice pretty please!

Have decided to change the car, which means that I now would like to get rid of the 7.5t horsebox and downsize to a trailer.

the lorry is a 7.5t, ford cargo 811, G reg with 90,000 on the clock. It is going for its plating on Weds so with have the full 12 months and at the moment 12months tax. It is stalled for 3 horses and space wise would fit fine. It has a small living with a table, seating, cupboard which has a potable toilet, there is a sink, gas hob and a couple of cupboards also loads of room over luton for a bed. Ramp is very easy, I can do this on my own!

Where would be the best place to advertise this? Are there any companies around that would part exchange - to either a trailer or a 3.5t box?

Many thanks x

Depends whereabouts you are in the Country re part-ex. Equimark in Suffolk do take some in part exchange against new 3.5 tonne boxes. I just sold a 7.5 tonne box through Horsemart. Advertised it and it sold within 24 hours :) Lots are advertised on HorseDeals too.

I looked in horse quest, horse Mart and H&H for mine, one but of advice please make sure you have the inside dimensions and unladen weight for purchasers questions. We walked passed a few boxes there and then as they had guessed at it with no weigh bridge certificate. Good luck with your sale.

Thanks for the help guys!!

Once it has gone through its plating, I will get pictures and sort out the dimensions.

I have just been through the paper work and found that the box unladen weighs 5380kg leaving 2120kg for horses people fuel etc.......is this a decent weight for a 7.5t box????

Thats the other dilemma I have!! I am not sure what to ask for it, it is in good condition for its age and looks a smart box - a couple of dents from previous owner but nothing major. Looking on horsemart etc, they seem to be anywhere from £2.5k up to £5.5k - ideally I would just want a quick easy sale, so that I have the money to go and sort out something else :)

so any guide on price would be fab!

We've just done the same as you.... We sold our lovely Coachbuilt lorry in 2 weeks, plus we had loads of interest after it was sold too.
We advertised on Horsequest & Horsedeals (web only). We were sensible and priced it to sell.
I took 40 pictures and uploaded them to photobucket, warts and all. My view is, as some were prepared to come a long way (furthest away was a woman in Devon - were in West/North Yorkshire) it was important we were as honest as possible in the advert.
I also re-bumped the Horsedeals ad on week 2, which generated loads of phone calls, and potential viewings.
The other thing we learnt was not to put anyone off, because you have another viewing. We did this, and they didn't turn up (their loss)
Our lorry went to a lovely new home yesterday, mum cried, and we collected her brand new Ifor Williams 511.
Goodluck

Thats great news Millimoo!

When the lorry comes back from the plating, I will go armed with the camera and take loads of pictures! I might try and sell privately first, then go down the part exchange route.

Still not sure on price though, will have to do some research on that one
