Long story (enquiring for a friend), but does anyone have any recommendations for someone very experienced/capable to take on a 16hh mare with issues for retraining. She has unfortunately learned to nap, spin, buck, leap and rear when stressed by new experiences or doesn't get her own way and needs someone brave with lots of stickability as well as patience and good training methods who is used to difficult horses. She is not looking for someone to beat her into submission obviously but a firm, fair hand to re-establish boundaries. Not adverse to Monty Roberts et al, but looking for ridden work as well as ground work. To handle she is a little pushy but not too bad.
From what I can gather this has developed over the last couple of years from her getting away with things. Before that she was hunting/competing and before anyone asks back, teeth etc all been checked. Lady did ask me, but whilst i am very happy on a spirited horse, my yard is a much too busy enviroment and I just wouldn't have the time needed, plus I am not really willing to risk an injury when I have 6 horses to compete this year. She has been out of work and her owner assures me is much better once in regular work, just need someone to get her there. Her ultimate aim is to find a good, long term home with someone who can manage her as for the right person she could be a great horse.
