Where to send my youngster in the Wilts/Glouces area?

I have a tricky 5 yr old Tb at home, which I have a broken and brought on myself, but I have nobody to hack out with at home, he has been out hacking a couple of times when my friend has been back from uni and she can ride my other horse, he is fine with traffic but can be very difficult to deal with when passing sheep in a field or passing lots of people. He tends to like cantering down the road sideways!
So i'm looking for a yard where he can be brought on in hacking terms, his schooling and jumping is all fine. He just needs to see the world a bit more. Also possibly get him in the lorry and take him to places, cause he can also be very strong ( on the ground) when taken on outings.
He is very quirky and quite tricky to deal with and will certainly need some one very experienced any suggestions???
 
Thanks, I like the sound of her a lot. Its so important that I find the right place for him, as he isn't easy and in the wrong hands someone could do a lot of damage to him.
 
they're very experienced, her mum rode at Badminton in the '60s, Tor has produced a homebred to 4*, i doubt it would be anything they haven't seen an coped with before...! pm me if you want more deets, or Tor's moby number.

He is a very sympathetic male rider and will really get to understand your boy and NOT just use force or any undesirable methods to get him to behave as a few male riders do.

I think he's a great horseman but give him a bell and see what you think. Good luck

agree about Tor - she had a horse of ours to bring on and did a lovely job - and it a really nice relaxed yeard too, sort of place anyone would be happy to leave their horse knowing it will be well looked after...

Hiya - I run what I would consider the very best livery yard in Gloucestershire - we have outstanding facilites and probably the very best problem horse jockey in the country. Our most recent livery couldnt even ride her own horse as it did everything it shouldnt - 5 weeks with us and every day her owner is riding him and loving it. My SiL sent her mare to RS for schooling a few years ago (very sharp and quirky chestnut), and was disappointed that for the vast amount she was paying him, it seems that he rode her once a week and the working pupils rode her the rest of the time.

For an experienced event horse who was being competed by a pro rider, or a more straightforward horse, this is I suppose perfectly fine, but it def wasn't what she was expecting to find out.

Just a thought as the OP has said that the horse can be difficult at times.

I can also recommend topline the standard of care and facilities are second to none. I have known their stable jockey for years and have seen her produce many young horses to an exceptional standard. She helped me produce a horse that i later sold to robert smith and qualified a horse that she produced for the BE age class finals.
