After months of shall i, shant i, i have decided to sell my lovely mare. I simply dont have time for her, and she is bored, fed up and stressed as she isnt being ridden.

where do i advertise, I am looking for about £6,250 as she is a top bred mare.
(17hh, 5yrs, KWPN, olympic SJ lines, started BN, clears 1.30m loose)

We are getting near to xmas, good thing or bad?. ideal xmas present but would it be better to wait till jan or even Feb, or even spring? the longer i wait the more double clears she will have, but doesn this really SELL a horse?

also will it increase her value would you pay 500 more for 4 double clears BN and 4 d/c Dis? or not?

Just want her gone to a good home (ASAP) before i decide i can keep her!!!!

I think its the worst time of year TBH because people are saving up for Xmas and its coming into winter so the weather puts them off. Best time is definately the Spring / beginning of summer. But you can try now, there'll always be people out looking whenever! TBH I think it would be best to wait and get more double clears / BSJA winnings because she hasn't done much yet for that price. No, it wouldnt increase the value IMO but it would make her more sell-able.

We have had the same shall I / shant I with my mum's new forest pony as we want to sell him in order to get myself another competitipon horse. We decided that we would sell in Sept if he was ready. If not then in Feb / March and work on the competition record so when people contacted at least we had recent results to tell them. Also people are looking forwards to spring and lighter nights so hopefully get more interest in him. he is now here til Feb / March unless the people who know he is for sale tell someone and they make an offer.

understand where you are coming from, btbh she is a proffesional type horse. big scopy jump and a bit sharp. as most people that compete to the standard she be capable of (at least 1.30m) they wouldnt be put off by the fact its winter would they?
also most of them would have at least 2/3 horses possibly ther own place?
her father was the top leading sire for 5 yrs and her g.dad did the seol olympics, dam was a french team horse. (which is rare as mares dont usualy compete to top level)
so actualy 6250 is a real bargain.

id post a picture if i knew how. amazing presence and looks, absolutly stunning. (im not overly boasting/biased either)

I personally tend to like buying my horses in the winter months or at the end of autumn as it means I can get to know their quirkes before the summer season starts. However for my mum's pony he would suit a PC home so I need the track record for his jumping. Personally its nice to know the horses breeding and it is a good price knowing what I've seen recently.I would not say no to her turning up in my stocking. However as I like my jumping I like to know that they are at least getting double clears. I've known a variety of good bred horses who just don't seem to be able to pick their feet up well enough / consistantly have a fence down. I think you have to weigh up the benefit of selling her now and letting her go competing regularly / being in regular work and keeping her on to do a few more classes with you. My Sj hates not been ridden and gets really stroppy with me - even if its just a 10 minute hack he is a completely different animal - he hates not being used / competed.

yep she's the same!
she hasnt done any d/c yet as she has NEVER competed. not even a clear round. jumped courses at home but never away.
just today moved her to markfield where it was show day, had a great nosey around and dragged me places to see stuff but wasnt overly naughty just very interested in what was happening. anyway first EVER competion is BN on thursday!!!!

i try putting an advert in at the end of this month whaen she has done sevarl classes. where tho?

Probably try local equestrian centres, H&H, pony club website, monty roberts site has free advertising. Other than that there are the usual of horsemart etc. It depends what home you think she will suit as well and which sites are best suited for her needs. Our New Forest would be great in a pc home so thats where the advert is going to be placed.

I've heard that horses are not particularly selling at the moment but having said that I'm looking and I know two other people who are looking, sio it's probably worth trying an advert or two.

your post just adds to my confusion re horse prices. I put a message on here a while ago about a horse I was really keen on, but had done nothing and was of unknown breeding. Priced at £10k because of his temperament and potential. I know he was worth that because had known him a fair while but a "stranger" could not really have been able to ascertain that, on a trial ride and through taking seller's word for it.
Your horse has done more and got proven blood lines.
V confused!
