Where would be best to keep him?

I am considering moving tont but i'm not sure where would be the best place to keep him :confused:

I really want to keep him in a little field where it would just be us :) I think it would be lovely to just be able to do what I want when I want with my horse. I have seen quite a few empty paddocks in the perfect location so hopefully at least one would consider renting the field :)

The problem is, my mom is a bit worried about it being just us, just in case we were ill or something and there was no one to rely on. So she isn't sure whether a livery yard would be best, although I doubt we could afford £20+ a week just for a stable.

So, does anyone have any advice as to where would be the best place? :confused:

If you rent a field you would need a companion for him - also, is he a good doer as having no stable would not give the option of bringing in if need be, likewise if he got ill you would not have a stable.

Would not having a school to ride in be a problem ? If so, you would need to consider that too.

As your mum has pointed out, if you're not on a livery yard you have no option than to go to the field to care for him be it rain or shine, flu or otherwise etc and of course arranging care for him when you're on holiday etc.

Sorry, I was really vague in my original post.

He's currently living out in a basic field with someone my mom knows, but we have fallen out with her ashe is really controlling. He is a very good doer so no stable wouldn't be too much of an issue and I was planning on maybe loaning a little native for company :) No school doesn't bother me too much, as I only hack where I am now.

Assuming you are happy to be in charge and have cover you can arrange for emergencies then go for your own field! There is nothing like doing what you want, when you want with no interference but it is a huge commitment.

I wouldn't EVER have a horse on its own but rather than a native do you not know someone else of a similar age to you that would like to share?

crunchie1 meant as he is a good doer sometimes its good to bring them in off the grass!

It nice doing your own thing but you need to be fully committed
(as im sure you are)

Your horse needs company and as someone said why not look for someone of a similar age so you can ride together.
The trouble with having just 2 horses together is when you ride one the other gets lonely!
