I'm hoping to do some showing with Flash this summer, coloured classes, WH, etc, and want to get a nice hacking jacket and navy hat with flesh coloured harness, but can't seem to find what I'm looking for! Although I'm not sure I know what I'm looking for! Where do I find these things!? Local saddlery only had navy and black jackets

Trying on jackets is a must TBH! HAve seen some nice tweeds by MEars, and Caldene have a wide range too.... are you going to any big horsey events? Normally best bet for trying on! Hat wise, IMO the Charles Owen ones are the nicest.... Derby House, rideaway etc stock them, what make is your normal hat?

There are so many colours in the hacking jackets, is there any particular that you're supposed to have for certain things? I've seen people with really nice ones, but can't seem to find them to buy!

For colours you should watch some of the some classes you are planning entering and see what you like best/what matches the colour of your horse/pony. I like Foxley and Pretty Ponies jackets for showing - you will see them on stands at the bigger the bigger shows. As for fit you want one that JUST touches the saddle - nothing looks worse than a too long jacket!

I was thinking watching them will be my best bet, and Kent County show isn't that far off, so may have to just stick to a navy show jacket until then

I quite like the look (from pictures) of the champion classic riding hat, has anyone got any opinions?

That's a problem I often find, I'm really tiny so jackets are always too long on me!

Sorry - for me I HATE jackets that are too short! I think that one that fits perfectly will be the answer!
Try to go to one of the big county shows - it is fun to watch and there are usually lots of jacket stands. I bought two recently - one from Alexander James and one from Designer Browbands. Designer Browbands are great for odd shaped people as they realyl understand what the jacket should look like and often make up specials for people. Perhaps have a word with the lady that runs it (Jill) and see what she suggests.

Thanks everyone, I best get shopping
