What sort of place would i go to to get the metal piece on this engraved?

anywhere that does engraving as they put it in a clamp. i had mine done at the same time as having some keys cut. you could try a place that does trophies ect.

I got mine done at a shoe-repairers/cobblers. They engrave animal discs etc, and were able to do my headcollar too. Also some tack shops can do them as well.

Probably a stupid question but do they have to take it off the headcollar to engrave?

no they didnt with mine. i suppose some might but its easy enough to get to.
