Cut a long story short, we recently loaned a 16,2 TB mare for hunting and she had been a few times before .. took her hunting and it blew her brains in a big way, phone owner up with concerns and she dug around and horse isn't suitable to hunt, has been very very bad in the past, luckily nobody got hurt only a car!

But we are now on the look out for a another horse to hunt, ideally something myself and my 11 yr old daughter can exercise and my husband to hunt maybe twice a mth only, so thinking perhaps a cobbier type rather than a TB, although our last TB was suitable for all type of riders.

So wheres the best place to look, for a proven hunter? xx

Devonshire, you are a regular on this forum and I was somewhat surprised by your post generally.

Might I suggest the banners alongside this forum which admittedly are for the top end of the market, but elsewhere in Horse and Hound which is currently awash with so many horses and not too expensive.

Also... ask around your local hunts if anyone has something for sale. Word of mouth has to be the best way IMHO (assuming people want to sell those paragons of virtue!).

Depends what sort of hunting you want to do and what your budget is! How big, how old etc

Are you a jumper or non-jumper? Which pack? If a jumper, is it hunt jump type country, or hedges or ditches?

Proven safe hunters that would be rideable by all three of you, that will pop a hunt jump, a MW type ....... what you could be looking for is at a premium at the moment - it's what the majority seem to want!

You can scour the major websites - H&H, HorseQuest, HorseDeals, HorseMart for instance. You can ring the reputable hunting dealers. You can (obviously) ask around your local hunt/secretary.

You can also advertise locally or on websites for what you want.

ETA Do you want a loan or to buy?

Cheers, everyone around here knows what we are after so the of mouth part is sorted, been offered a few rides etc etc, was just a general question more on websites, suppose I should have been more specific in my post lol.... have looked in freeads, horsemart, horse and hound and horsequest, wondered if I was missing a fabulous site!
