and under dock area, and the other on his belly - my friend called me once at college and thought he was having a colic attack - but he was just scratching his belly on the grass, bless!!
My gelding likes to be scratched under his tail on his butt cheeks - he sticks his top lip so far out he looks like a parrot.
The filly likes it underneath her chest right in-between her front legs - her coat is like silk under there.
Mostly round her withers and at the top of her flanks, but she gets flies attracted to a bare patch on the midline of her belly, just behind her girth area, and I found out the other day when applying fly gel that she LOVES being scratched there (probably as she can't reach it!) and she almost fell over when I gave her a good scratch!
my boy hasnt really got a place in particular but there is a mare at the (new) yard that is shy of new people, tonight i encouraged her out to say hello and by chance started scratching at the crook of her neck / back of throat and then wished i hadnt, she didnt move for over 20minutes HOW CUTE THOUGH!!
The great Ginger Twit loves to be scratched part way down his neck, on the off side crest.... He drops his head and tilts his head and neck over to get maximum benefit. He quite often does it if I am brushing his mane. The funny thing is, though, if he thinks anyone is watching he stops and pretends he isn't enjoying it!
absolutely everywhere on my mare! So much so that between her back legs if you get a really good spot she actually holds her leg up and out of the way for you!! So cute!
