I'd like a really light stable rug and Its out of the two above. I always go Horseware but i know somoen who has the Ruggles and Its actually really very nice. The price difference is barely anything. I *think free post with both.
I like the fleece and the tail flap on the ruggles but the other is classic/smart.

I’ve just bought the new 50 g Amigo to replace one which is probably around 10 years old. It’s really nice and quite deep. Have 100 g and 200 g now so can make up for most weights!

Personally I’d go for Amigo , I have the 50g turnout for my lad fits great, my elderly mini Shetland has some ruggles rugs and I find them tight around the neck and they rub his mane a bit

This is what I'm thinking. I have a 100g stable and 200g both combo and not so a 50g would be a good addition.
Tbh, if you’ve got an older one that’s been washed and used etc for years, it’s probably already thinned down to 50g!
Personally, prefer breathable turnouts in the stable, particularly for any horse determined to lie in the wet spot.... they do keep them cleaner and don’t smell as much as stable rug fabrics.
any turnouts that are perhaps past their most waterproof years - stable rug duty.
(I don’t ever turn out in same rug they’ve worn inside tho, I do think you need to keep changing and airing out)

Agree that a turnout kept for stable use tends to work better, you can find a cheaper one without big shoulder gussets and 10 million straps.

I was looking for a proper stable rug last year and was disappointed at the materials now, lots of them seem to be rustly polyester stuff, more like tarpaulin, my sensitive boy was terrified. I bought a polypropylene woven stable rug from Robinsons 30 years ago, it's onto the 7th horse to my knowledge and still perfect after a wash. Wish we still got that type of quality.

I don't have an old one. I'm terrible I rarely keep stuff til it gets ancient. I prefer stable rugs indoors as I can wash them often. They are dry by the time they come in.

maybe mine are just a pair of scruff bags but that fleece collar would be yellow and smelly in no time🤣🤣 i do know of a pony who has one and it fits lovely and has lasted her a while.
I don’t know if this horse is or not! First winter approaching. I was a bit spoilt with Ziggy my other horse when I’m he was stabled as he was immaculate and never lay or even stood in poo. I expect bedding would stick to it as well.

I would go for the Horseware. I have the Amigo 100 and 200 liners and stable rugs which wash and wear superbly but more importantly fit well and they are both approaching 9 years old. I do have a 50gm Felix Buhler which DP had as a 3 year old but outgrew and it was the most versatile weight I’ve ever owned. I may have to invest in the new Amigo 🤣
