Before I start, I know work is the main thing when it comes to top line is work/exercises ect, but I am thinking of adding a balancer/top line product to help and improve it and increase the protein on the horses diet to help develope this. Price is not an issue and at the moment blue chip, top spec and baileys seem to be coming up tops. I hear blue chip can be heating, top spec seem to tell you feed their feeds on top of their balancer which ups on cost again and baileys balance v's topline mixes/cubes seem to do the same thing?
I have a rising five yr old who conformation wise is a little pony necked (ewe necked), but was coming on with work but then got injured, now in putting him back in work I want something to 'help me along' as training events are starting and clinics which we really need. What would you guys suggest?? He is spooky and green and can get a bit 'hot under the collar' if thing don't go his way so whatever I do decide on I want it bone heating!!

Top Spec every time. Start with the Lite Balancer and see how you get on. The Comprehensive is great but I found my horse looks and feels great with just the Lite.

None I don't think

Buy lysine from progressive earth from eBay for £13.00 for 6 months worth.

It's a very important amino acid and an essential building block for all protein, body builder take it as it builds muscle.

The best supplement you could give for top line and extremely cheap.

The best balancer out there is Top Spec. You only need to compare to see.
However, a balancer will not necessarily help you achieve top line. Balances are designed to provide the micro and macro nutrients that may be deficient in a normal forage based diet. A diet with a high oil content will help.

If he is getting enough nutrients from what he is being fed then he doesn't need any supplemental feeding. Is he thin? Lacking in muscle tone? Dull coat? If not, then the lack of muscle on his crest is either a. just the way he is made, or b. due to incorrect/insufficient work. There is nothing you can feed which will magically migrate to the top of his neck.

I have been so pleased with the results from Top Spec Cool Balancer. It's a new balancer out for hot / fizzy horses lacking condition because the original top spec did send a few horses quite crazy!

I feed just 2 cups a day to my young 16.1hh TB along with 2 cups of micronised linseed, unmolassed sugar beet and hi fi.
2 months ago I was feeding a bit of hi fibre nuts with micronised linseed& Hifi , no balancer & the condition was OK but not amazing. Horse was quite silly and spooky.
Since replacing the High fibre nuts with the balancer and speedi beet the top line and temperament has improved considerably, coat is superb!
