Hello,

I am moving to a yard which doesnt allow you to use straw so i need to put my horse onto another type of bedding.

He is a 4 year old almost 17hh hannovarien. He has spent every winter in a big barn so life in a stable is something quite new for him and he does box walk slightly.

Can anyone recommend a brand of shavings and or another type of bedding?

Thanks a lot.

Kelly

I would invest in some rubber matting so you can have half a bed if needed - if he's a box walker

Shavings are shavings there are quite a few companies out there all charge different rates kind of flake etc etc... Hunter's are lovely light and fluff up nice...

Easibed / aubiose type

Cardboard
Wood pellet is another - one that I shall be looking into as it's like sand really rather than bedding and you hardly use any of it.

I just moved one of mine onto wood pellets and they are great. Very much like sand. If you like a nice cosy bed like straw or even shavings they're not quite the same, but have to say I don't think horses are that fussed about cosy - it's more us owners!! ;)

Pellets, pellets, pellets! I am a recent convert - they are doing a fab job in my stable and am about to move soggy share pony on to them :)

I like the fact that you can deep litter on pellets much easier and it doesn't smell as bad as other bedding, taking the poo out you are just taking out the poo....pellet's fall through fork...
