I feed my horse soaked oats, alfa oil and normal sugar beet.

Im thinking of changing to a different type of beet but as there are so many im not sure which to go for. He is currently on ad-lib haylage so I was thinking that he is getting quite a bit of sugar already.

Ive been looking at the different ones but was thinking is there any point in feeding alfa beet if im already feeding alfa oil?? And the fibre beet also containg alfalfa.

He does benefit from lots of fibre as he doesnt tend to digest as well on a normal diet. I also add topspec comrehensive supplement but will be changing to pink powder in the next few weeks.

I need to get feed tomorrow so was wondering which one is best? Or should I change at all?

Any suggestions?

surely alfa beet is just alfalfa and sugar beet combined so would make no difference feeding it. I agree with twisted diamond, don't upset your horses by changing their feeds unless you have to.

As im not sure what benefits normal sugar beet has compared to the other types.

I dont really feel I need to be adding extra sugar to his diet anymore as the new grass is coming through and he is on haylage at night aswell (he was on hay with almost non existant grass when I bought the last bag), I though he would benefit from more fibre rather than sugar.

Im just really stuck as they all seem so simalar??

My friend's TBx does superbly on alfa-beet, although she doesn't feed soaked oats as well. She raves about this feed, and her horse is in fantastic condition.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I went for the speedi beet. I am hoping he will maintain his weight on this as he had put on so much condition over the winter. And hopefully as it has more fibre it will help him digest the grass a little slower
