I sent my horse to be broken this summer and he has been broken really forward and the more they did the stronger he got now if he wants to go he just bombs off with me clinging on hoping he will stop soon he was in a nue shule snaffle and was never strong but learnt he had been jumping just 2 weeks after breaking I've been told a Waterford might help I no he needs schooling and has a lot to learn but I hate not having brakes!!!

Hmmmmm. Jumping 2 weeks after breaking? I would take him back to the beginning & I would also wonder if he is charging off to get away from pain. Bitting up at this stage is an absolute no to me. you need an instructor & some good guidelines.

It seems they missed out rather a lot of basics and rushed him, most recently backed youngsters will listen to the voice if they are done properly, so go back to reestablishing the basics with groundwork, get the whoa to your voice and when you get back on start with the simple walk halt transitions, dont move on until he has learnt each step, this has nothing to do with bitting, although he could be running from pain or discomfort, and everything to do with having a lack of understanding from a poor start, frustrating when you hope you have sent them to professionals.

Sounds like lack of education rather than he needs to be bitted up.

As they have said above, go back to basics. I wouldn't be impressed with whoever broke your horse in - jumping after two weeks is a bit much, he will have barely established his own balance with a rider on board by that point.

I'd be doing alot of lunging, long reining, introducing trotting poles on the lunge. Really get him listening to your voice and starting to supple up.

I would then make sure his saddle fits and his teeth are ok before progressing with any more ridden work.

All back teeth and saddle been checked recently as that's what I was worried about it is very frustrating as it was riding school and it was cheap but because I pulled him out after 6 ish weeks it's my fault apparently but for 3 weeks there was no improvement so couldn't see the point in paying for nothing each week lol thanks for the advice it's really helpful
