Hi, my 7 year old has a small 11.3hh Welsh section A type pony who while he is doing flat work or any other non jumping exercise rides perfectly in a little french link snaffle but when we go into the jumping arena he gets a little excited and hard to hold which then ends up in quite a fast round of jumps. My daughter is OK with this most of the time but I need to try and give her a little bit of control back around a track of jumps and thought that I should maybe try a different bit. I don't want to over bit him and I am also conscious that my daughter is 7 and although she is not hard on his mouth, she would not have the experience yet with a stronger bit. Someone has suggested a rubber pelham but i'm not sure. Any suggestions?
