Hi. Ive got a TB (ex racer) who i am having real brake issues with! lol
Ive had him since Oct and have just started to do some faster work now the ground is nice....he is damn quick but the little *** is taking off with me and im struggling to stop him.
Today on 2nd canter (after he took off with me on 1st one) i bridged my reins into his neck and he was much better but i dont want this to be a long term solution as it is putting alot of pressure on his mouth by him pulling against himself.
Currently he is in a french link hanging cheek snaffle with a cavesson noseband....i have been told to try a grackle to stop him crossing his jaw but i am contemplating trying something a little stronger in his mouth as well. I do not fancy going round a XC course as we are currently, too much danger of me not being in control and him not stopping!!
I dont want anything to harsh but something enough for him to respect it when we are doing faster work ;-)
Any advice and bit recommendations greatly recieved, especially from fellow ex racer owners
PS - back is fine, teeth are fine etc, this is not pain related its just him being a tad KEEN!!
Thanks
