Have recently bought a tb mare, who i have found has a very sensitive mouth! Not only is she extremely sensitve in the mouth, but the sides of her mouth are prone to rubbing. Have tried a varity of snaffles but at the moment she is ridden in a loose ring snaffle bit with a french link with gastly looking bit rings (but if they work...) which she was ridden in before i had her, but as id never ridden her before i didn't realise quite how sensitive she was (without the bit rings poor girl) but its still to much for her. Have tried narrow and not quite so narrow snaffle and still the same.
Her teeth have recently been done, so i doubt its anything to do with her teeth but i really don't know what to try next?

What can you recommend?
Thanks guys

Try a Nathe, lovely soft bits, and horses seem to respond well. However, we've found the plasticy bits can rub more than a metal bit. Vaseline on their mouths helps with plastic bits, otherwise how about a nice smooth eggbut snaffle? Also, bitwold do a selection of loose ring bits with curved sides of the mouthpiece, that stop the loose ring from coming into contact and pinching. They have a lozenged mouthpiece and give the advantages of a loose ring with no pinching.

i haven't got a clue about happy mouths, rubber, or vulcanite bits, only ever used the traditional bits, but saying that, i've never had anything so sensitive! think i need to join a bit bank. Anybody know of a good one?
