hi all im new to the site n would appreciate any advice u guys have to offer.
i have a 17.1 ID middle weight hunter that im trying to find a bit for shooling him in, he has always been ridden in a straight rubber pelham since broken but as i bought him to show i got him going nicely in a double bridle, i dont want to use this bridle every day n would like to find something else that i can school and hack out in, ive tried a couple of snaffles but found he leaned terrible on them, ive just tried him in a 3 ring gag on 2nd ring n he seems to be goin very nicely in it n its him doin the work now as well as me!! but ive just read on another thread that gags are supposed to raise the head so surely its not wise me using it as a bit to school in?? HELP!!!!!

no i havent tried 1 of those, im not really up on my bits at all my previous horses have just gone in loose ring snaffles n doubles so not had much experience with different bits. it is the 3 ring gag im using but alot of people on a different thread said there designed to raise the head which worried me a bit when im using it to school in. thanks for ur advice

Ive just began schooling my section d mare in a 3 ring gag as she was leaning badly - she's great now! Really light in front and so much easier and enjoyable to ride now. She was in an eggbut french link.

oh thats good to hear, mine seems to be goin well in 1 as well but i just didnt want to use it if it was designed to do the opposite of what im wanting.
thanks for telling me
