Am possibly taking D to a little XC training thing this weekend with my friend. We're probably not going to be doing any of the jumps, just going to walk round and get used to the course a bit (pony is a bit of a whimp atm)..but might attempt a couple if he's behaving/brave enough!

Just wondering whether people would recommend brushing boots or open fronted tendon boots for it?

I have both but don't really know which will be best as I've never done ANY XC before!

Also, he's not shod at the moment...but do you think I should still put his over-reach boots on just incase!?

Oooh and do I need to put boots on his back legs as well as his fronts?

Haha sorry for numpty questions...but I've never done XC before and don't want ponio to get hurt!

If he is likely to dance around the OR boots might be a good idea, just in case he treads on himself.

I'd pop brushing boots on all round just to provide a bit of protection in case he knocks himself (unless there is a specific reason that he wears tendon boots - does he strike his foreleg with his back as a rule?).

Have fun.

He's likely to dance around...he's so good at home but HATES new places (the idea this year is to get him used to them so I can compete in the summer!)....will put OR boots on!!

Wears tendon boots when we SJ coz he has a habit of knocking poles so I just think he can feel them if he does!

We have brushing boots for the front...will ask YO if she has some we can borrow for back too then!

Use tendon boots in front and brushing behind. Gives them strike protection in front then which brushing boots dont really give, and help to protect hinds too

for xc of any kind i would use closed boots only brushing is fine, if using overreach boots make sure they are not too big as they can stand on em and trip!!
