If you are on a tight budget you would probably be best to invest in a decent pair of short leather boots and some good quality leather gaiters, they will cost more in total than the saxon but will offer more protection than synthetic ones, essential if you are hunting, they will last longer and look smarter.
Otherwise look out for used leather boots, ebay or preloved would be best or save for some leather boots which will last many years, mine are over 20 years old and still going strong. I bought a pair of short saxon boots, thinking it would be a saving but they were pretty useless and didnt last very long, leather is so much stronger and will last, I think the ones you have look as though they will do for now.

Do not get the Saxons- they are awful. No give, terribly shaped and look awful. I sent mine back! Mites worth really trawling the internet for sales, there is a great one on boots on discount equestrian. I wanted to not pay a huge amount, but in the end it was false economy. Wait out until you can find a decent leather pair at the right price for you.

Agree about looking for some quality leather boots on preloved or ebay I bought an almost new pair of Cavallo llong leather boots for £20,they fit me better than any pair I tried on in the shop and I use them for showing they look so good.

Don't bother with synthetic boots. They don't last, don't look nearly as nice as leather ones and are generally a bit of a false economy. I recently brought a gorgeous pair of Mark Todd leather boots which cost me £150 and the quality of the leather and their fit is just fantastic (I'm usually very difficult to fit as I've very short yet have a wide calf so most boots are unsuitable for me as they only come in standard or long lengths!). These boots were not the cheapest nor the most expensive on the market but I look after my boots well (I use wellies for going in the field, mucking out etc) so I know these will last me years.

I recommend that you save up for a good quality leather pair as opposed to buying synthetic ones. If you can't, I suggest you look on Ebay as you can get some fantastic bargains on there - a lady in my local feed merchants said that she had got a pair of Tredstep boots off of there that had been used twice for £80! They cost in excess of £275 to buy new so it's worth looking on there for a bargain :) a good quality second hand pair of boots will last 10x longer than anything synthetic, I can promise you!

It's more that you will get a lot more wear out of a leather pair, and they are comfier, a friend of mine got some equi leather gaiters and they looked and felt like she had travel boots on her calves! They didn't last very long either, they cracked because they had no natural give. How about these? I have broginis (slightly different model) and the leather is so nice and supple. V comfy boots. http://m.rideaway.co.uk/brogini-modena-long-boots
