My pony is lovely and will try her heart out for you, but whenever I try something new with her she tends to get so over excited and eventually explodes :o I would love to be able to take her out on the lanes for a walk in hand but she gets so excited the second we are out the gate she's like a snorty araby nightmare and is very strong. I ideally need something to calm her slightly so she can control herself when something exciting happens. Can't spend alot so the cheaper the better please :)

I have had good results with:
Equine America Magnitude
Horse First Relax Me
Equistro Betamag 12

However it is trial and error im afraid what works on one might not work on another, also cheapest isn't always best:D

My 17.1hh full ID does not need a calmer as he is quite laid back individual however in winter he gets a little stressed, especially in field, tends to fence walk if left out too long.

I found if I give him a spoonful of Magnesium Oxide (85% strength) in his morning feed he is as calm as a cucumber out in the field. Now waits by the gate patiently to come in, no more fence walking so it has worked lovely.

I bought it off ebay...got two big packets for £7.80 and has definitely worked to calm my big boy down so if you only need your mare to be slightly calmed I would recommend giving her some magnesium!

My friend swears by Anxicalm for her mare who is very spooky...you might have to do a bit of trial and error as Anxicalm on my boy sends him nuts!!! ( I tried this before the magnesium!)
Good luck x

Just be aware that most calmers are magnesium based, and only work if your horse is deficient in this...

My cob is always more 'wired' in the winter and calmers have no effect - I just try and keep his diet as high fibre/low energy as possible, turn out as much as the weather allows, and make sure he is in regular work.

Good luck!
