Which clip...

Hi guys!

Was trying to get away with no clip on my boy this winter as his workload doesn't warrant it - he's only ridden weekends once clocks change due to lack of daylight & facilities!

Anyway, last night I lunged him for 20 mins & he was very warm - I don't know if I'll get away with no clip cos altho he doesn't do much thro winter he is a very hot horse.

So which clip should I go for? I usually just take it all off as he sweats everywhere not just in 1 area altho I wondered if I might get away with a blanket clip but I just think they're a bit ugly looking!

i've gone for blanket - HRH lives out 24/7 365 and i hunt her from the field so i need a clip but want to keep her back as warm as possible

I think it depends how hard you plan to work him at weekends.

Mine will only be worked at weekends and mainly hacking out and RC rallies and this is what he currently has - he gets hot easily as well - he was sweating just being hacked in walk!

T is a very 'warm' horse and I've given him an Irish with a bit more neck taken off, which has done the trick for the moment. I'll probably be doing a high trace later in the year, though.

My boy is in light work, i usually give him a trace, works well for him as the neck and chest is out. I'm with you on the blanket clips i'm not keen either!
