Morning, I wonder if anyone can help? It's getting to that time of year again and i'm considering purchasing my own set of clippers rather than pay someone else to do it on their timescale etc

I have however, no idea which are best for the kind of use that i will be using them for. I will be clipping 2 horses each year so i don't need them to be uber super duper durable but then I don't want them to fall apart after 2 years either.

Will say, a £150 set be suitable?

Any help would be appreciated :)

We use Wolseley Swift clippers, they have been around forever & are very reliable.

With the budget you have you could buy new clippers but the make would not be one of the better known ones. It may be better for you to look for a used set from a well known manufacturer. There are plenty about that have not had very much use & with a known make you would be able to get replacement parts easily. :)

I was looking at 2nd hand but was concerned about guarantees etc - but hearing that it would defo encourage me to buy used!

If anyone has any for sale - pm me :D

I use Lister Liberty clippers because you don't need an electric power supply & there are no trailing cables to cause a problem. I can clip a large horse & a pony in one go & they would probably keep going longer than that. Then I recharge them at home. Suits my situation perfectly.

I hope this doesn't sound rude, but your budget is a little low!

For that you could get a liveryman harmony, moser max 45 or an oster golden A5 1 speed and put a wide blade on it. Is probably not ideal but for £150..!

If you raised that to £200 you may be able to find a lister star which is ideal for small scale stuff, again bearing in mind your budget.
