Just wondering if anybody has any advice about what type of clippers are really good? They need to be able to do 2-3 horses, all of which are quite hairy! Thanks :D

I use 'Lister's Star' clippers, and they're for my two 17hh horses, both of whom get fairly thick coats in the winter. Lister's in general are not cheap but they're absolutely worth the money as they're long lasting and effective. Anything from that particular model upwards in their horse clipper range are brilliant in my opinion. Hope this helps!

I have a pair of Liveryman Calypso which I bought second hand. I really rate them - not too heavy and do a lovely close clean clip. Only mistake I made was buying the medium blades for them which are fine, but if you are doing a shorter coat (such as a second clip) then the fine blades are better. I have two horses and I'm just about to do chaser clip no 2 for this season - no problem for these clippers.

I also borrowed a pair of Lister Stars from a friend and was very impressed with those too - nice and lightweight and gave a good close cut too.

Suggest you look on eBay for some second hand ones, but do your research first. There are bargains to be had if you know what you are looking for and what is good value.
